Support for parents
At Hursthead, we understand that being a parent can sometimes be a challenging or worrying experience, especially when your child has additional needs. We aim to provide information, guidance, support, and in-school opportunities to reduce stressful experiences and help get the best possible outcomes for your child.
As a first step always remember that we have an open-door policy at Hursthead regarding any concerns or worries you may have about your child. You are always welcome to speak to the class teacher via phone, face-to-face or via email at headteacher@hursthead-jun.stockport.sch.uk. Alternatively, you can always contact Ms. Taylor (SENDco) via telephone, the dedicated send@hursthead-jun.stockport.sch.uk account or contact the school office to arrange an in-school meeting.
If your child is placed on a SEND plan at school you will be invited to attend termly SEND reviews to discuss their needs, current progress, and plan targets for the upcoming term.
We also hold termly SEND coffee mornings in which we invite parents for in-school workshops such as supporting homework or service from outside professionals. This is a great opportunity to network with other parents and to enjoy an odd biscuit or two!
